Questions:
1. The title of this play is Black 2. - Black lives matter. this phrases was repeated multiple times, which further implies that black lives do indeed matter. so do other lives, but with a focus on black lives. - The family members of a cop that has committed an act of brutality are effected. the spouse of the cop that killed a 12 year old was in tears throughout the film, this shows that not only the victims family is effected, but also the family of the person that had committed the act of brutality. - People in our own community have been effected by racism. at the end of the play, they asked that all of those who have been effected by racial profiling, police brutality, or racism, please stand up. and people stood up. it helps visualize how many people have been effected in our own community. 3. Long with how me as a "white" person has a great privilege. the privilege that I am thought of as "normal" 4. - treat everyone with respect - raise awareness for #blacklivesmatter - step in and tell someone to stop being racist towards someone 5. thanks for shedding light on a topic that I normally don't think of. I will now think about how privileged I am and how I can help others. 6. What is your ultimate goal for this play? is it to raise national awareness for police brutality? is it to remind people about inequality today?

Questions
1. The Chris 2. Obed, Roman, Bryan, Estevan 3. The film is a horror film about a murderer who kills people in the boy's locker room. his name is Chris, and he wears a mask to cover up his pale complexion. power is shown in this film in two ways, the power to kill, and the power to stand up to your fears. 4. I liked how the use of lighting added to horror effect. it made the scene seem more scary. also the camera shots were used at the right time and made the film seem more interesting. 5. the one thing that I would change would be to have the lights go dark or go red whenever someone dies, to add the the horror theme. Questions:
1. Medium shot 2. It changes to an even closer shot, first it was wide, then medium, and finally a close shot. 3. There is 2 cut transitions, one from the persona sitting in a chair to the housekeeping cart, then back to the person again. 4. The camera cuts to the person dancing on a table and slowly zooms in, then is cuts to him leaping off of the very same table onto the floor (where dancing belongs). 5. Camera movements are slow as not to take away from the music video. There is VERY VERY stable footage, This makes it easy to focus on the film and not how shaky the footage is. Lastly most of the shots are medium to wide angle, this shows the viewer the person's actions and his environment in the same shot. 6. The lyrics in the A-roll relate to the B-roll because it is repeatedly saying "you can go with this or you can go with that", and in the B-roll he choses between two items(such as elevators), also the beat of the song relates to the timing of his steps. Every time there is a bit of bass, he takes a step, bass, step, bass, step, this repeats over and over again throughout the video. Background information:
today we watched the opening scene to "The Godfather". The Godfather is a movie about organized crime. It was directed by Francis Ford Coppola in 1972. The Godfather is widely regarded as one of the greatest films in world cinema and one of the most influential, especially in the gangster genre. It was selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry of the Library of Congress in 1990, being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Questions: 1. The genre of the film is most likely action/drama. I now this because the opening scene leaves the viewer with suspense. you don't know too much about what happened, or what will happen. It pulls the viewer in and gives the need to watch more. 2. The film language was slow. The music was slow, the camera movement was slow. Everything was slow. This gave the effect that this was serious and this can't be skipped over. The slow camera movements show that this isn't an action movie where camera movements are large and fast. "The Godfather" has barely any camera movement at all which shows that this film is very dramatic where the dialogue is the key point to the movie, not the camera movement and cinematography. 3. The first thing I saw was a person talking to someone else on the other side of the table, the camera is looking over the shoulder of a shaded figure at the person. The next thing we see is the shaded figure on the other side of the table, except this time he is not shaded. We can see his face. Lastly we see the entire room with everyone else in it. This gradual expanse makes sure that the viewer is not overwhelmed with visual stimuli. 4. This film shows power by hiding the one with the most power. For example, at the start of the film, the "godfather" is cast in a shadow. With organized crime, the leader is usually unknown and kept a secret. Another source of power is when the "Godfather" sits behind a table. When anyone thinks of someone with power, they think of suits and a figure sitting behind a desk. Take the president for example, he has a suit and sits behind a desk. The last source of power comes from everyone wearing suits. People with suits are generally thought as wealthy, and wealth shows a lot of power. 5. I would love to see this film. the opening scene hooks the viewer as they have little idea what is going on. They also state the problem and a possible solution/climax. So now the viewer knows the basic idea of the film, but doesn't know how the plan will be carried out. The unknown hooks the reader. Background Information
Today we watched the trailer for Kubo and the Two Strings, it is a stop motion movie created by Laika Studios which is located just outside of Portland, Oregon. Some of there other notable films include Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls. But this film takes stop motion to a whole other level. They used massive 16ft tall puppets and 3d printed parts to get virtually unlimited facial expressions. All of this is combed over with a little CG to smooth everything out. Questions: 1. The genre of the film seems to be a mix of adventure and action. I know this because generally adventure films dress some sort of "quest" in the trailer. For example when Kubo says "it is time for my own adventure". I also know it is an action film because they always include a villain in the trailer (the twin sisters). 2. the language the film producer used was very dramatic. He wanted to make the film seem VERY dramatic, therefore a dramatic song plays over the entire trailer. scenes are short and quick to make the viewer want to learn more. Lastly there are a lot of scenes to make the viewer confused a bit and to give them a good idea of the movie. 3. The first thing I saw was the animation style of the film. Every animation or artist has their own style. This one is very clean, yet still very detailed, but no to the point where it is hyper-realistic. The last thing I noticed was that it was a stop motion film. I thought it was completely done on computers, how Laika Studios achieved that is amazing, 4. The audience of the film is definitely geared towards children or younger people. Most animations are created for kids, such as frozen, up, toy story, etc. next my guess that this film would appeal to the people that want a little bit more action, from the trailer this film seems like an action movie. 5. The effect this film had on me was that in this day and age, it is impossible to distinguish the difference between stop motion and CGI. The amount of detail that the subjects had was amazing something that I only thought could be achieved on a computer. |
